Africa Runners
Every year people spanning three continents run for a good cause: to raise funds for building, renovating or improving the infrastructure of schools in southern Africa.
Samara has had the privilege to be the implementing partner for two of these funding runs (in 2020 and 2025) and invested into schools in Whittlesea.
In 2020, Samara partnered with Ekuphumleni High School and after initial delays created by Covid, was able to build 6 new classrooms in 2022 to alleviate their over-crowding. In 2025 Samara worked with 5 primary schools and undertook various infrastructure projects to improve the learning environment for the students and teachers.
Ekuphumleni High School
Ekuphumleni is a school that works hard to give their students the best possible chance of graduating with the results needed to get into college or university. However, as many public schools in South Africa, Ekuphumleni has to deal with over-crowded classrooms, lack of resources and students that come from challenging circumstances.
Since 2020 Samara has been working with Ekuphumleni to slowly improve the infrastructure, resources available and learning environment for the students. To date additional classrooms have been built, the water infrastructure has been improved and equipment for their Science and Hospitality classes has been purchased. Next, the Science classroom will also receive a full renovation.

Whittlesea Primary Schools
In 2025 Samara began working with the primary schools that feed into Ekuphumleni High School and undertook various projects, from improving the sanitation, fixing leaking roofs, adding a library and a playground to sponsoring books, maths and science teaching materials and sports equipment.
